Welcome to the den! This is meant to be an orientation page for newcomers to the den, and a resource for den members. The FAQ will be followed by the den rules, which are also available as a deviation in the page's "scraps" section. Please feel free to poke around the page and take a look at the resources that are available to you!
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is a text RP?
"RP" stands for "roleplay". In a roleplay, participants take on the persona of a character, and relay the character's thoughts, words, and actions as part of a collaborative story. By playing their individual characters, the roleplayers work together to develop an exciting drama that reads like a novel- it's alot of fun! If you are new to roleplaying, try to sit in on a few sessions and get a feel for how it works, then begin thinking about what kind of character you would like to play. For some guidelines and restrictions, be sure to check the Den Rules, below.
What is the Den of Heirs?
You step into the yawning mouth of an immense sandstone cave, the bright daylight outside pouring into a darker gallery that extends for about two hundred feet back into the mountainside. The ceiling is not high- perhaps ten feet above your head at its highest point- but high enough that you can walk around comfortably. The walls towards the back flicker with the light of flames from torches and a large bonfire near the entrance, their layers of red and yellow rock beautiful to the eye. There are few stalactites, the walls having been worn smooth by an underground stream that has long dried up, leaving an even floor that lends itself well to sleeping. Here and there along the walls and a few ledges, nests of leaves and cloth mark out the bedding places of the pack, and small amounts of carefully stored supplies are kept out of the reach of any vermin ill-fated enough to wander inside.
Outside the cave, the broad, thickly forested valley of the Fen river stretches between two rugged mountain ranges. The river is wide and sluggish, having carved out its shallow bed over centuries. It's source is up in the mountains above the den, and its water runs cool and clean at all times of the year. The Fen and the lush grazing grounds along its banks have attracted a wide variety of game, including elk, deer, and ever-plentiful rabbits. It is a territory that is much coveted...
The Den of Heirs is a roleplaying chatroom on DeviantArt. It is a public room that is open to anyone who would like to take part and obey the rules. The Den is made up of a loosely knit pack of characters, mostly wolf demons, headed by the Alphas Wolfe and Valks. It is set in a fantasy version of modern day (or the very near future). The wolves are cut off from civilization, living in a nearly pristine wilderness where they are seeking to learn the ways of the pack and the hunt. Because they are more than a little wild in their mindset, the Den members are not fond of technology or modern comforts, two things that Wolfe and Valks frown upon.
What is a Wolf Demon?
A wolf demon is a type of kemonomimi (Japanese-style anthro) that has a human form, a hybrid form, and a wolf form. In its human form, the wolf demon resembles a normal human, although it may have supernatural powers. It its hybrid form, the wolf demon gains wolf ears and a wolf tail, but otherwise appears human. In its wolf form, the wolf demon resembles a fantasy wolf, and may have striking markings or colors.
How do I join the Den?
There are no requirements that you have to meet to join the den, although seasoned roleplayers will be more at home there. Before you join, take the time to sit in on a few sessions and make sure that the style and subject matter of the roleplays is something that you are interested in. Once you've decided that you would like to join, there are some steps that you should take:
1. Decide on your character. You will need to fill out the character form that is given below, so have a good idea of who your character is and what he wants.
2. Read the rules, then read them again. Make sure that you understand everything in them! Contact :devacidrainpunk: or *
Sheeply if you have any questions or need anything clarified!
3. Fill out the character form and post it in response to this journal. Your form will be edited for spelling and grammar, than incorporated into the Character Registry, another journal on this page. The Character Registry is given in alphabetical order. If your character does not meet the requirements given under the rules, it may not be entered into the Registry and you will not be invited to roleplay with us. Character entry is always up to the discretion of the Alphas.
4. Once your character has been registered, jump on in! You can start with a group RP, or ask a member to do a private roleplay with you in another room. The important thing is that you enjoy what you do, develop your character, and contribute to the story :3.
THE DEN RULES
[1] Mature Content: The den is PG-13. There will be no smutting allowed, as we are a public room and open to users of all ages. Please respect this rule as an extension of the DeviantArt policy on mature content.
[2] Etiquette: Treat everyone with respect. Everyone is an equal here. Don't be pushy when asking for an RP and use proper manners. We are all living people even if you don't know us in person ^^. There is NO discrimination allowed in this room. Discrimination will lead to a permanent ban. Please use your better judgement when it comes to discussions of a very personal nature. This is a roleplaying chatroom; we don't need your life story and your daily drama. This doesn't mean that we aren't there to help you and we aren't your friends, but when the room starts feeling rather uncomfortable, it is time to stop. Spamming, advertising and unnecessary thumbnailing are considered a very bad breach of etiquette, and will be dealt with promptly.
[3] Characters: Original characters are the only characters permitted in this room. Fan characters or the use of any character that does not belong to you is not permitted. This includes blatant "rip-offs" of other characters, no matter what name they may go by. The Den is a wolf demon roleplay, and as such only characters that are canid in basis can be included in the group roleplays. If you are uncertain if your character is acceptable, please contact one of the admins (:devacidrainpunk: or *
Sheeply). All characters taking part in the roleplays are required to complete a character form (see below), or provide a link to an existing character profile.
[4] Format: Proper spelling, grammar, and complete sentences are to be used at all times. The format for all group roleplays taking place in the room is
paragraph format . Your post should be written in
third person, and begin with a capital and end with a period. Emoticons, text or otherwise, are not to be used in the roleplays at any time. An easy way to remember what we mean by paragraph format is simply to think of how your post would be written if it was appearing in a novel (as opposed to a play or a diary). Posts written in different formats make a roleplay sloppy, disrupted, and hard to follow. If you consistently post in any other format, you will be asked to withdraw from the roleplay.
[5] Out of Character Chat (OOC): The "main" room is to be used for roleplaying. Posts that are not part of the roleplay, known as OOC, are disruptive to a roleplay and its mood. If there is not a roleplay in progress, out-of-character disussion is welcome, but as soon as a roleplay begins
all OOC chat
must be moved into the separate OOC room (DenofHeirsOOC). If it is absolutely necessary to post OOC in the roleplaying room, please use brackets around your post. When you first enter the room, take a moment to see if folks are in the middle of an RP before you say hi, and move next door to the OOC room if need be :3.
[6] Rankings: The rankings used in the Den, from highest to lowest, are Alpha, Beta, Omega, Pup, and Stray (Guest). Promotions can only be made by the pack alphas, who do not respond well to nagging and begging. Please defer to your highers in rank and obey the code of the Den :3.
